Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece. Athens dominates the Attica region and is one of the world’s oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning around 3,400 years. Classical Athens, as a landlocked location was a powerful city-state that emerged in conjunction with the seagoing development of the port of Piraeus. A centre for the arts, learning and philosophy, home of Plato’s Academy and Aristotle’s Lyceum, it is widely referred to as the cradle of Western civilization and the birthplace of democracy.

It mainly receives charter flights during the summer. On March 2013, Aegean Airlines opened a base in the airport.

The airport is located between Kalamata and Messini on GR-82 and west of the train tracks on the Pamisos River plain. The runway is about 2.7 km long and runs from north to south from the highway north to the plain. The terminal lies to the east and is accessed with GR-7/E55/E65 (Kalamata – Tripoli – Corinth).

The airport serves just under 13 million passengers annually and its name honours the Greek statesman Eleftherios Venizelos. As of 2013, Athens is the 35th busiest airport in Europe.

Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Pylos-Nestoras, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. It was the capital of the former Pylia Province. It is the main harbour on the Bay of Navarino. Nearby villages include Gialova, Pyla, Elaiofyto, Schinolakka, and Palaionero. The town of Pylos has 2,767 inhabitants, the municipal unit of Pylos 5,287 (2011).

Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Pylos-Nestoras, of which it is a municipal unit. Its name may be derived from Mothona, a mythical rock. It is located 11 km south of Pylos and 11 km west of Foinikounta. The municipal unit of Methoni includes the nearby villages of Grizokampos, Finikouda, Foiniki, Lachanada, Varakes, Kainourgio Chorio, Kamaria, Evangelismos and the Oinnoussai Islands. The latter constitutes from Sapientza, Schiza and Santa Marina and forms a natural protection to Methoni harbour. The town is also known by the Italian name Modone, as it was called by the Venetians.

Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Pylos-Nestoras, of which it is a municipal unit. Known as Corone by the Venetians and Ottomans, the town of Koroni (pop. 1,668) sits on the southwest peninsula of the Peloponnese on the Gulf of Messinia in southern Greece 45 minutes southwest of Kalamata. The town is nestled on a hill below an impressive Venetian castle and reaches to the edge of the gulf. The town was the seat of the former municipality of Koróni, which has a land area of 105.163 km² and a population of 5,067 (2001 census). The municipal unit’s next largest towns are Charokopeió (pop. 743), Chrysokellariá (528), and Vasilítsi (488). It also includes the uninhabited offshore island of Venétiko.

Once a sleepy little town, in the past few years more and more tourists have discovered Stoupa. There are about 20 restaurants lining the road along the beach, a few small hotels, and many rental houses. Besides Greek tourists, who come mostly in August, British and German tourists are the most frequent visitors. There are a few Dutch, Italian, and French tourists. There is only one flight a week into Kalamata, the local airport, from the Netherlands. Aegean Airlines has begun to operate flights from Athens to Kalamata, and has recently added a Thessaloniki-Kalamata flight. In the summer season, many charter carriers operate flights to Kalamata bringing package tours.

Η Μάνη είναι ιστορική περιοχή της Πελοποννήσου που καλύπτει τη χερσόνησο του Ταϋγέτου. Γεωγραφικά η κυρίως Μάνη ή “Μέσα Μάνη”, όπως ονομάζεται τοπικά, ορίζεται από τον αυχένα του Ταΰγετου Σαγιά και καταλήγει στο Ακρωτήριο Ταίναρο. Η Μέσα Μάνη διακρίνεται με βάση την κατά μήκος κορυφογραμμή στην Ανατολική Μάνη ή Προσήλια Μάνη, που βλέπει προς το Λακωνικό Κόλπο και στη Δυτική Μάνη ή απόσκερη ή αποσκερή Μάνη, που βλέπει στο Μεσσηνιακό Κόλπο. Βορειότερα της Δυτικής Μάνης, δηλαδή από την περιοχή της Καρδαμύλης, βρίσκεται η Μεσσηνιακή Μάνη, ή όπως την αποκαλούν τοπικά η Έξω Μάνη.

Η Κυλλήνη είναι χωριό και λιμάνι της Ηλείας, πρώην ανεξάρτητη κοινότητα και πρώην δημοτικό διαμέρισμα και έδρα του Καποδιστριακού Δήμου Κάστρου-Κυλλήνης. Σήμερα ανήκει στον Δήμο Ανδραβίδας – Κυλλήνης. Η Κυλλήνη είναι γνωστή και για τα ιαματικά λουτρά της.
