Chranoi is a small fishing village that has become an international tourist destination. It is located in Messinia southwest of the Prefecture and is just 35 kilometers from the capital of Messinia, Kalamata. Chranoi is a small but dreamy village with beautiful beaches, clean sea that every year welcomes many European and Greek tourists who live hospitable residents. It has hotels, rooms to let, several restaurants and taverns with excellent traditional recipes and of course always fresh fish. It is one of the most important tourist destinations of Messinia visited by thousands of Greek and foreign tourists. Chranoi was a municipal district of the former Municipality of Apeia and today it is part of the Municipality of Messina and has 278 permanent residents.
